Anaerobic JarsAnaerobic Jars

When the space or the budget just isn’t available for even the smallest workstation yet you need to cultivate anaerobes, Whitley Anaerobic Jars could be the solution.

As well as being the ideal vehicle for transportation of samples from patient to laboratory, anaerobic jars have long enjoyed a good reputation for a wide range of anaerobic culture applications including pre-reduction of poured plates and large scale anaerobic culture and class work. Whitley jars have positively located lids fitted with the unique Whitley Schrader® valve system and carrier clips for Oxoid low temperature catalyst sachets.

Each jar can be used with either gas generating envelopes or cylinder gas. The jars will vent automatically if too much pressure is applied. Our jars are supplied ready to use, complete with a comprehensive spares kit.

Whitley Anaerobic Jars come in two sizes: the 3 litre capacity holds nine 9 x 9cm Petri dishes or 7 Sterilin square dishes or a 96 well assay plate. The larger 10 litre jar holds 48 9 x 9cm Petri dishes and can be fitted (as an optional extra) with a carrier to holds 3 stacks of 16 x 9cm Petri dishes leaving ample room for 3 gas generating envelopes.

Both Whitley Jars can be fitted with a conversion kit to link to the Whitley Jar Gassing System for growing anaerobes and microaerobes.
