Don Whitley Scientific Limited develops, manufactures and sells instrumentation and associated products for microbiology and cell culture applications worldwide. In addition, we provide microbiological contract services in our GLP-compliant laboratories. We sell to both private and public sectors in a variety of scientific disciplines, and support our products throughout the world through a carefully chosen distributor network.
Our wealth of experience in microbiology, design and engineering has led to the design and manufacture of a range of innovative equipment specified by leading scientists throughout the world. Brand names you may recognise include the Whitley workstation range, Hypoxystation, WASP (Whitley Automated Spiral Plater) and RABIT (Rapid Automated Bacterial Impedance Technique).
We currently sell a comprehensive range of products and services in more than 40 countries. We specialise in providing automated solutions for the detection and enumeration of micro-organisms. Our diverse, international customer base includes quality assurance personnel, food producers, public sector microbiologists, clinical microbiologists and researchers. Our latest products are a range of workstations in which oxygen and CO2 can be controlled to levels as low as 0.1%. These products are specifically targeted at cell culture, cancer and heart research work - in short, anyone wanting to carry out research under varying oxygen and CO2 tensions.
We have attained a leading position in our selected markets by producing quality products backed by excellent service and support. With a UKAS laboratory accreditation, we offer site calibration and validation services for heat sterilisation equipment and temperature controlled processes.
In the UK, Australia and Germany products are sold directly by our wholly owned subsidiary companies. In other parts of the world, our products are sold through exclusive agreements with carefully selected distributors.
Our contract microbiology services are all handled directly from our Shipley laboratories. The contract research studies embrace all aspects of antimicrobial development programmes including efficacy, safety and clinical trial studies with increasing emphasis on antimicrobial resistance work.
Our laboratory staff also have extensive experience in working within the animal feed industry as well as with the medical device, textile, food and chemical industries. Due to the increasing demand for microbiology consultancy services a sister company, MB Consult Limited, has been formed to handle this aspect of the business.
